Gucci’s Alessandro Michele is trying his hand at home furnishing design in a collaboration with 1stdibs. Michele designed a limited edition black chair with three different upholsteries. These design limited edition upholstered chairs have Gucci all over it, and although they are not considered modern chairs, we love them anyway.
Launched last week, Michele designed three different fabric covers for a collector’s edition box set using Gucci’s coral snake and floral Herbarium fabric, often incorporated into his collections. These limited edition furniture pieces are both elegant and beautiful.
1stDibs, an online retailer of luxury brands, was selected as the exclusive retailer for the second phase of Gucci‘s designer collaboration with Cabana Magazine. The six limited-edition chairs are only sold on 1stDibs’ marketplace and were inspired by the Chiavari seating Michele used for Gucci’s Milan runway presentation in September 2015. In this black chair a huge butterfly is embroided into the fabric.
Each of the black chair’s upholstered seats features embroidered animals seen within Michele’s Gucci collections. These include a rabbit, a bird, a tiger, two different snakes and the newest Gucci iconography, the honey bee motif.
This design limited edition chair features a green bird.
Since taking the reins as creative director at the Italian firm, Michele has left an impression on the luxury brands industry by updating Gucci’s look in a fantastical way that blends its codes with modern accents. Extending the Gucci aesthetic to a collection of bespoke upholstered chairs, the designer’s collaboration with Cabana is exclusively available on online marketplace 1stDibs.
