Cradle Chair Design

Cradle was a project created at Victoria University in an Industrial Design course. It was designed and created in a team of 7 people.

The project was about creating a safe, comfortable and relaxing environment in which the user can escape the over stimulation of their senses. The design was heavily directed by research into Autism and children with Rhythmic Movement Disorder (RMD) as well as safety, sustainability, function and aesthetics. While we had a strong focus creating a solution for sufferers of RMD the chair is not exclusively for them and will bring relaxation, comfort and calmness to homes with this desirable chair.

Oka Armchair

An armchair designed for a modern home decor inspired by the dialogues of the Bakaya pigmy tribe. OKA means “listen”, listen to people that are perfectly adapted to their natural environment, and who, despite the extreme remoteness and dangers of their forest home in central Africa, always find opportunities to express their humor, joyfulness and musical genius. OKA armchair embodies a myth of people that live joyfully with nature and tells a story while letting you feel its comfort and softness of the warm grey cotton velvet. OKA armchair is perfect for a modern home décor.

Elis Armchair

This tropical rhythmic armchair incorporates an unpredictable strength. While its darkness from the black leather adds a luxury touch, the inspiration behind has a much lighter touch: the notes of the Bossa Nova Swing. The sunny feeling you get while sitting in this chair should be the same as you walk down the Copacabana Strip. The dark wood details of its feet, give it a more mysterious and expensive touch.

Chair For Cafe

The Loop Chair is the world’s only hybrid of a lounge chair and a rug. It’s probably also the world’s coziest lounge chair, too. The chair is designed by Dutch design student, Sophie de Vocht, and made of 1,000 feet of yarn pulled through a tough metal wire mesh. The seat cover is made with using a designer’s hand-tufting technique. Crossing a carpet and a chair allows to use the warmth and the comfort of a carpet in a different way.

Meltodown Chair

This chair is created by heating and pressing a seat-shaped former into a ball of polypropylene rope. The rope begins to liquify as it comes into contact with the heated former and, as it cools, it sets in the shape of a seat creating a contrast in form and texture to the remaining rope. No additional material has been added to make the seat – it is all made from melted rope.
